The new Smithsonian exhibit, “Cerámica de los Ancestros: Central America’s Past Revealed,” received ink in both Washington Hispanic and El Tiempo LatinoAnd the Smithsonian Magazine blogged about a few of the rarely seen ceramics.

The winners of the recent high school Latin dance contest, Los Titanes Salseros, discuss how their intense training helps them appreciate their culture and create a family. They are students at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland.

The Smithsonian Gardens website and blog, meanwhile, shared some interesting trivia about the natural beauties in Las Orquídeas de Latinoamérica exhibition closing soon at the Natural History Museum.

The International Film Festival begins this Thursday, April 11. The films selected include “La Playa DC” (Colombia, Brazil, France), “Amor Crónico” (USA, Cuba), and “Who Cares?” (Brazil, USA, Tanzania, Switzerland, Peru, Germany, Canada). More information about the festival, which runs through April 21,  can be found on its website.

NPR’s alt.Latino station posted five “essential” Venezuelan songs, chosen by the host’s favorite Venezuelan rock band.

Univision and NASCAR are partnering up to create a new NASCAR-themed telenovela to air May 5. According to the story,

Juanes will perform on a special “Latin Night” edition of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” on April 29, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Hispanicize, a 5-day cultural event featuring the country’s top Hispanic “bloggers, journalists, filmmakers, musicians and social media experts,” begins on April 9 in Miami, Fox News Latino reported.
