Hola Cultura is a nonprofit organization established to serve as a bridge between the area’s Latine and non-Latine communities, covering topics bilingually that affect residents’ everyday lives — from arts and humanities to environmental justice. Founded in Washington, D.C., Hola Cultura has since expanded its local coverage of the Latine community to Boston, Massachusetts. The organization got its start in 2011 as an innovative series of artistic mini-documentaries featuring D.C.’s Latine arts, humanities and creative class. It’s the brainchild of Alberto Roblest, an award-winning artist, author and educator. Since those early days, we’ve kept growing — publishing more than 1,600 articles, interviews, videos and other media, created by our Storytelling Program for Experiential Learning (SPEL) participants from across the country and other volunteers. Hola Cultura also organizes walking tours, festivals and other special events with the help of our talented youth and volunteer contributors. Together, we continue to build an online archive.
Hola Cultura es una organización sin fines de lucro establecida para servir como un puente entre las comunidades latinas y no latinas del área y cubre temas en inglés y español que afectan las vidas diarias de los residentes – desde las artes y humanidades hasta la justicia medioambiental. Fundada en Washington, D.C., Hola Cultura ha ampliado desde entonces su cobertura local de la comunidad latina a Boston, Massachusetts. La organización se fundó en 2011 como una innovadora serie de minidocumentales artísticos sobre la clase latina de artes, humanidades y creatividad de D.C. Es la creación de Alberto Roblest, un artista ganador de premios, autor y educador. Desde aquellos primeros días, hemos seguido creciendo – publicando más de 1.600 artículos, entrevistas, videos, y otros medios de internet creados por nuestros participantes de SPEL a través del país y otros voluntarios. Hola cultura también organiza recorridos a pie, festivales y otros eventos especiales con la ayuda de nuestros talentosos jóvenes y voluntarios. Juntos seguimos creando un archivo en línea.
