We just heard the so-called Blended Building was demolished last week. It was a former warehouse in Shaw, nondescript except for its location across the street from the 9:30 Club. Unremarkable until last year, that is, when dozens of graffiti-influenced artists transformed ordinary brick walls into an extraordinary showcase of local talent.
Bye, bye blended building! (“Now that you’re gone… Oh no, they can’t take that away from me!”)
Anybody know what’s going up in its place? According to a Washington City Paper story published a few months ago, the whole area is being transformed into a posh new neighborhood with lots of pricey condos, some artists studios, and maybe a movie theater.
