Night life: Baile da Colombia’s uniquely D.C. vibe

By | Published | No Comments

At Baile da Colombia last Saturday night, DJs Micke Angelo, Márcio Carvalho, Vitor da Rosa, and Khozz had the large crowd dancing and singing along to Reggatone, Funk and Electra beats.

So many people turned out to the Abigail nightclub that the Dupont Circle-area nightclub was buzzing with energy and people. So many, in fact, that it was hard to move around at times. The dancing skills on display were impressive with the most intrepid couples gliding to the top of a series of platforms—the highest situated a good 5 feet off the ground. Most of these platforms doubled as tables so those dancing on them had exceptional skills dancing around bottles on the tables.

These events embrace Latin culture in new exciting ways. Hosts T.O.P Group and DC Finest Group, are two local companies that cater to the Latin community in Washington, D.C. The idea behind last Saturday night’s baile, for instance, was to mash together the musical stylings of Colombian and Brazilian culture, hence the hybrid “Baile da Colombia” moniker.

If you and your friends missed it last weekend, but are looking are looking for more opportunities for a fun night out where you can dance, sing, meet new people, and speak Spanish, then you might be interested in these other events by DC Finest and T.O.P. in the next few weeks:
