This evening chef Ismar Reyes, who was featured in Hola Cultura’s webumentary, “El Arte de la Cocina/Kitchen Arts,” heads into the final round of the Embassy Chef Challenge, an annual competition of chefs and culinary traditions from around the world.

Ismar, the chef-proprietor of El Nopalito Grill, is the only Latin American in the competition. He grabbed people’s attention in last month’s first round with a beautiful and delectable-looking dish. (See more photos here!) Tonight, the chefs compete to see who makes the best appetizer. According to a tweet from the Salvadoran Embassy, Ismar’s “secret weapons” will include “chipilín”, mango, coconut, fish, yuca and corn.” YUM!

Judging by the blazing  #embassychef Twitter trail, there’s a lot of excitement building for tonight’s $250-a-plate fundraising gala. We’ll be sitting this one out, but wish Ismar the best of luck!
