The secret history of coffee, cola + cocaine

By | Published | No Comments

Ricardo Cortés discusses and signs his new book, A Secret History of Coffee, Coca & Cola,” tonight at the Bus Boys & Poets in Columbia Heights.

Cortés is a New York City-based illustrator who “first gained notoriety after his debut, It’s Just a Plant: A Children’s Book about Marijuana.” His new work isn’t another wordy tome, it’s an illustrated history of “the intermingling” of coffee, Coca-Cola, and cocaine — the description alone is enough to give you a contact high!

Also on hand to discuss the book will be  Sanho Tree, director of the the Institute for Policy Studies’ Drug Policy project, and Coletta Youngers, a senior fellow at Washington Office on Latin America.
