Meanwhile we wanted to tell you more about the great local Latino musicians playing TamalFest DC this year.
GuateMarmiba is a DC-based orquestra that plays the traditional and popular music of Guatemala and Central America highlighting the Guatemalan national instrument, the Marimba. If you came to TamalFest last year, you’ve already had a chance to hear these talented musicians play. Watch this excerpt of our video from last year’s Fest.
Grupo Etnia plays Andean music. These talented musicians are masters of traditional South American instruments including panpipes and reed flutes, also known as zampoñas, charango and quenas and typical of the highlands of South America. Read more about the band in this Hola Cultura article.
Grupo Raibales is local dance band that plays popular music such as norteñas and cumbias designed to get everyone out on the dance floor.
FACEBOOK LIVE INTERVIEWS: Last night Hola Cultura’s Media Team and DC Chef Sebastien Lamerre of the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School’s Culinary Arts Academy dropped in on this year’s participants to see how preparations were coming along. Check out the videos with Los Hermanos, Pica Taco, and Lezo’s Taqueria! Watch them all on Hola Cultura’s Facebook page.
