It was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones at our happy hour fundraiser on June 20. The event was a lot of fun! Seeing our former interns and volunteers growing up and progressing in their lives and careers is a big part of what makes worthwhile all the effort that goes into Hola Cultura.
We also really appreciate the enthusiastic comments about our latest video production, “Tamal Stories/Historias de Tamal,” shot at last year’s TamalFest DC. Thank you to Ana Reyes and the Reyes family of El Tamarindo (one of the 2016 TamalFest participants), for hosting Hola Cultura at the Adams Morgan restaurant last night. We were so glad to have in attendance Arthur Espinoza, Jr., executive director of the D.C. Commission for the Arts and Humanities, and Louis Hicks, director of grants and special projects, at HumanitiesDC, which provided the grant that made this new video possible.
We’ll give the video its online premiere later this week, so stop by again soon. For the moment, check out these photos by Daniel Martínez, our talented volunteer contributor who also played a big role in shooting and editing the new video.
