What excited you about working at Hola Cultura?
I applied to Hola Cultura because I was very interested in the organization. I think it’s a very cool organization with programs that help people develop their talent when they are very young. Also, at this stage in my career, I’m very passionate about journalism and culture.
I understand you are originally from Colombia. How has it been living in the D.C. area?
I thought being in D.C. would be an American experience, but there is so much Latino culture here. Now I have two American friends, and 12 Colombian friends. There is a mix of cultures here that I find interesting. Latin American culture has a big impact here.
What areas have you explored so far?
I arrived six months ago. Everything is new to me. I’m always walking around the National Mall because it is so beautiful. It’s my favorite. I still go almost every weekend to walk around. It’s a city with many cultural activities, so I love that. I also love the other surrounding cities, like old town Alexandria.
Any pets?
Mojito, he’s a black lab. He has so much personality. He’s super energetic, but he’s a little crazy. People think he’s aggressive because of his look, but that’s not right. Anywhere he sees water, he jumps. He’s good company for sure.
Welcome, Lucía!
