Join us on April 23 for the ArteVoces celebration!

By | Published | No Comments

A street photographer drawn to hidden stories; a ceramicist who uses her art to connect with her home country; and a textile artist who wants to change perceptions about quilting: These are some of the artists who will be featured on April 23 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, where recorded discussions with six talented Washington-area Latine artists will premiere.

The interviews, conducted in late February and early March, explore the artists’ journeys, how they draw inspiration from the city, the importance of collaborating with other local artists and other topics.

These insightful dialogues will be projected in the library’s Conference Center on the fourth floor and followed by a panel discussion with the artists. Space is limited, so early RSVPs are encouraged. Follow this link to join the celebration.

Hola Cultura’s creative team, with support from HumanitiesDC, has been developing a limited-edition zine to be unveiled at the library event. Featuring images of the artists’ work, background information, and quotes from the recorded discussions, the zine offers a glimpse into the minds of these gifted artists, whose work spans four distinct art forms.

Copies are available by pre-order only and can be reserved for $6 on the ArteVoces web page.

Celebrate these artists and learn from their diverse experiences at the April event!
