Join us on May 28 for a virtual coffee chat produced by Hola Cultura and the D.C. Oral History Collaborative to celebrate our oral history project focused on the lives of five early childhood immigrants.

The five narrators we interviewed spoke about how their immigrant experiences affected their childhoods and how it is still a major part of their adult lives. In addition to the narrators, Hola Cultura’s story team will be on hand to answer questions along with special guest University of Maryland American Studies Professor Nancy Mirabal, who focuses on LatinX and African diaspora studies.

On Saturday we are excited to premiere the short video, “Every Voice a Life,” that follows the stories of our five narrators, as well; and to discuss our latest plans to turn these interviews into the foundation for a new podcast series coming in the fall. The series will further Hola Cultura’s mission to record an important community’s history.

Sat., May 28, 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Register here to attend the Coffee Chat and hear the narrators talk about their experiences.
