Blanca Gruber film competes in Rosebud Festival

The experimental short film, El Matiz de Bellorin (Touched by Bellorin), is one of a nearly two dozen local productions competing in the Rosebud Film & Video Festival at Artisphere this Saturday.

The “black and white, silent short experimental film that bends time and reality” is based on an original story by writer/actress Celma Rojas, who also has a cameo role. It runs 9 minutes.

When an exotic young woman comes to the aid of the mysterious stranger, Alonso Bellorin. A night of passion becomes a meeting of souls.  When morning dawns, she gets into a piece in a disturbing puzzle, a chilling reality that reveals a fatal secret.   El Matiz de Bellorin (Touched by Bellorin) is the latest film by award-winning Venezuelan-American independent producer, director, cinematographer and editor Blanca Gruber. In El Matiz de Bellorin, Gruber brings a fascination with early filmmaking and still photography to her avant-garde and experimental filmmaking style. The result is a silent film in black and white with each image a photographic composition. For Gruber, “image and movement are her inspirations and her leitmotifs. Concepts are transformed into images turning reality into artistic expression. ” El Matiz de Bellorin is an original story based on a dream of writer and actress Celma Rojas with an original musical score by Gruber. The film is edited by Gruber and Duet Diabolique partner, award-winning filmmaker, ballerina and psychologist Anne C. Fisher who brings her passion for storytelling and psychological exploration through movement to El Matiz de Bellorin.

Un misterioso personaje llamado Alonso Bellorín, envuelve a nuestra exotica protagonista en una pertubadora noche de amor. Piezas del pasado arman el rompecabezas. Un encuentro de almas, se convierten en un matiz de horror o en una escalofriante realidad. El Matíz de Bellorín (Touched by Bellorin) es la última película de la cineasta independiente Blanca Gruber venezolana-americana, ganadora de varios premios por su trabajos cinematográficos, productora independiente, directora y editora. Su trabajo es de carácter experimental y de vanguardia. “…la imagen y el moviemiento son mi inspiración”. Los conceptos son transformados en imágenes cambiando la realidad en una expresión artística”. El Matiz de Bellorin (Touched by Bellorin) es el debut como escritora de Celma Rojas. Dice: ” El Matiz de Bellorin fue una inspiracion a raiz de un sueño que tuve, y nunca supe si fue o no verdad…” El cortometraje esta editado por Blanca Gruber en colaboración con la productora, bailarina y spicologa Anne C. Fisher. Su pasionpasiones por la escritura, la spicologia y el movimiento, colaboran con la presentacion de El Matiz de Bellorin (Touched by Bellorin).
