What we’ve been up to this summer!
Hola Cultura’s interns have been hard at work this summer learning research methods and practicing digital storytelling. They are building 21st century professional skills as they explore the history of the Latino community in Washington, D.C.
As part of professional development activities, the whole group visited the Latino Studies Conference last week. Here are a few photos.

This summer’s investigations into the making of the 1982 Unity Mural (pictured above) has provided a fascinating window illustrating what the Adams Morgan neighborhood was like in the 1980s. We’ll get the scoop before this historic piece of street art is demolished and present our final research highlights to the community next week.
Join us July 24 for our final research presentations or come with us on a Latino history walking tour of Adams Morgan on Sun., July 29. We’d love to see you! There’s still time to help, as well. Join us this afternoon at the Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Library for a work in progress presentation and help us prepare for next week by giving our interns some constructive criticism or sit for an oral history interview.
If you can’t make it today but would like to be interviewed, please give us a call at 202-696-9642 or email us at holacultura@gmail.com.
