Hola Cultura joins the national tribute to the poet Walt Whitman in the bicentennial of his birth. Creator of free verse and fundamental figure of the literature of America. Whitman is considered one of the most influential voices in the world. His poetry can be traced in many Latin American poets. And besides being an inspiration for many artists, it is also an inspiration for environmentalists and the movement concerned about climate change.
His love for nature and his reflection on life make it more current than ever. In homage to this important figure of literature
Alberto Roblest presents “Manuscripts in free verse”, a series created deliberately in tribute to the author of “Leaves of grass” for the 10 years he lived in DC.
Manuscripts in free verse consists of 10 digital pieces. Each print is “assembled” as a poem in free verse, but also as a portrait. The elements in each piece are inspired by the verses of Walt Whitman and the concepts that express: water, the forest, freedom, nature and love of life in general.
The Walt Whitman 200 Festival celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the most significant and enduring poets of the United States, who resided in Washington, DC for ten years during and after the Civil War.

Hola Cultura se suma al homenaje nacional al poeta Walt Whitman en el bicentenario de su nacimiento. Creador del verso libre y figura fundamental de las letras de América, Whitman es considerado una de las voces más influyentes del mundo. Su poesía se puede rastrear en muchos poetas latinoamericanos. Y además de ser una inspiración para muchos artistas, también lo es para los ambientalistas y el movimiento preocupado por el cambio climático.
Su amor por la naturaleza y su reflexión sobre la vida la hacen más actual que nunca. En homenaje a esta importante figura de la literatura, Alberto Roblest presenta “Manuscritos en verso libre“, una serie creada deliberadamente en homenaje al autor de “Hojas de hierba” por los 10 años que vivió en DC.
Manuscritos en verso libre consta de 10 piezas digitales. Cada impresión esta “ensamblada” como un poema en verso libre, pero también como un retrato.
Los elementos en cada pieza están inspirados en los versos de Walt Whitman y los conceptos que expresan: el agua, el bosque, la libertad, la naturaleza y el amor a la vida en general.
El Festival Walt Whitman 200 celebra el 200 aniversario del nacimiento de uno de los poetas más significativos y perdurables de los Estados Unidos, que residió en Washington, DC durante diez años durante y después de la Guerra Civil.
