In most parts of the United States, Cinco de Mayo is known as one really good party. The holiday means much more, however, to Philadelphia residents native to San Mateo Ozolco, Mexico, near where the original May 1862 Battle of Puebla unfolded. Since 2007, the city’s large community of San Mateo transplants celebrate each year with a colorful parade, also known as el Carnival de Puebla.
McLean photography buff Lois Lefkowitz was there for this year’s Puebla Parade on April 28 and took these photos. See the entire photo album on our Facebook page.
