El surrealismo de los 1940 está conectado muchas veces con Paris y la escena europea, pero unas artistas centrales al movimiento estaban en México por muchos años durante sus carreras. En esta conferencia, Edward Sullivan, un profesor de la historia del arte en la Universidad de Nueva York, va a discutir el surrealismo en México en los 1930 y 1940 y la importancia de la ciudad mexicana al movimiento. Este es un evento gratis, per se recomienda que usted confirme su asistencia para garantizar un espacio.

Dreamscapes: A lecture by Edward Sullivan

The surrealist movement of the 1930’s and 40’s is generally associated with Paris and the European aesthetic of the time, but several artists central to the movement spent a good deal of time in Mexico during their careers, rubbing elbows with artists such as the Mexican muralists. In his lecture, Edward Sullivan, a professor of Art History at New York University, will discuss surrealism in Mexico during that time period and Mexico City’s importance to the movement. Admission is free, but it is recommended that you RSVP to guarantee your spot.
