This Friday Hola Cultura is launching Hola Escritores, a monthly column to uplift Latine writers and literature. This initiative will consist of book reviews, author interviews, and trend and analysis stories relating to Latine literature and the publishing industry. With Hola Escritores, we aim to recognize Latine writers of any genre for their talents and provide them a spotlight during a time of growing censorship in literature and publishing.
Through the support of volunteer writers, Hola Escritores will release a new story on the first Friday of each month starting this week. Latine authors from Washington, D.C., and across the nation are welcome to submit their books for review. To be considered, books must be written in English or have an English translation publicly available, and they must have been published within the last 2 years or upcoming year. We also encourage those interested in literature to join this initiative as volunteer writers and interviewers.
Please review our guidelines to learn more about applying, submitting a pitch and writing requirements. For further questions, email michelle_benitez@holacultura.com.
We will do our best to respond to every email, but as we review each story and pitch, please expect a response time of 1 month. If you have not heard from us by then, email us again.
Here is a preview of the first three books our column will feature.
