Hola News Links: Food, film + passing along the theater arts

El Tiempo Latino published an article last week about Salvadoran chef Ismar Reyes, the only Latino competitor in the Embassy Chef Challenge. While Reyes did not win the Cultural Tourism DC-sponsored competition he still made a lot of people proud, including El Salvador’s Ambassidor Francisco Altschul, who spoke highly of Reyes’ performance. The story also quotes the chef. From the article:

Por su parte, Reyes dijo que para él “es ganancia competir en un concurso de esta categoría. No importa que no hayamos ganado, pero quedó comprobado en el Ronald Regan que El Salvador sí tiene una buena gastronimía”, expresó con una sonrisa.

The Environmental Film Festival, which kicked off on March 12, includes many films by Latin American filmmakers or about Latin America. El Tiempo Latino described several of the movies, while a list of the films, dates and locations can be found on the festival’s website.

Later this month, Teatro de la Luna will launch bilingual theater workshops for students from Powell Elementary School with the support of the D.C. Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, according to the Washington Hispanic.
