En honor a este maestro hemos seleccionado la exhibición de pintura denominada “Ofrendas a la Catrina”, un par de reseñas en torno al tema que nos compete hoy dia… y siempre, videos, homenajes y el listado cultural con lo más interesante en eventos y exhibiciones en el área de Washington en estas fechas.
In honor of this master we have selected the painting exhibition called “Offerings to the Catrina”, a couple of reviews about the topic that concerns us today … and always, videos, tributes and the cultural listing with the most interesting in events and exhibitions in the Washington area on these dates of ofrendas.
This special issue pays homage to the highly influential Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada on the golden anniversary of his death. Posada’s happy calaveras and piercing political illustrations helped spark Mexico’s 1910 Revolution and continues to influence artists today, as you will see.

Grupo Sotzil | We interviewed the world-renowned Kaqchikel Maya ensemble Grupo Sotz’il when they were in Washington, DC, this fall for a series of performances and youth workshops.
José Guadalupe Posada is undoubtedly the father of the image of La Catrina as an icon of art, a plastic element and a pictorial symbol. His engravings are an artistic legacy, a cosmogonic universe, and above all, the recovery of the popular symbolism of a culture.
