Hola Cultura’s roundtable discussion and debut of the D.C. Latino murals maps at the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School

We were thrilled to fill the auditorium at the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School last night for Hola Cultura’s roundtable discussion and the debut of our D.C. Latino murals maps.

Today the maps become part of Hola Cultura’s D.C. Latino History Project.

Since many Latino murals around the city have been destroyed over the years, we used an Esri mapping app to document and share their stories.

Thanks to everyone who braved the downpour to attend last night’s (9/24/2014) event.

We’d also like to thank our partners who helped make the evening possible. Sonia Gutierrez and Allison Kokkoros and the rest of the Carlos Rosario staff and students who welcomed us so warmly; the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, the D.C. Commission on the Arts, and our fiscal sponsor, DC Arts Center; DC Murals, which helped us jumpstart our research, MapStory.org, the D.C. Public Library’s Dream Lab, our interns and summer fellows.
